RSV

Just to finish up last month (mainly because I posted before I remembered to mention this) I'm posting twice in a day. Never again, don't get any expectations up Camila.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus. Graham came down with it 2 weeks ago. There is a nasal swab test for it, just like the flu. My suggestion would be just to look it up on the internet if your kid ever gets it. It's like bronchitis, but a virus. Major mucus production which your kid coughs up and pours out his nose (and out his ears if he has tubes). He runs a high fever for a few days. 20% of children under age 2 end up needing to be hospitalized because their oxygenation is so poor. It's highly contagious, so you have to stay home and be bored out of your mind. And your kid doesn't sleep because he is so high on predisolone and albuterol. Snot gets all over your shirt and couch. And he doesn't eat or drink well, so he gets constipated and poops little deer droppings.

Graham is doing just fine now, but it ran a good 1 1/2 week course. The weather is crappy, so we can't go outside. The bored part is still in effect.

This video is from Christmas time. My mom had a cold and was blowing her nose a lot. She's rather loud, although not to rival Betsy. Graham is a great imitator.

  1. Glad to see that Betsy remains unrivaled on the nose blowing scene. HA!. This was pretty funny.
